Subcutaneous

An Internet play for a small group

by David Pennant

Subcutaneous, adj., [sub - cute - A - knee - us] = under the skin

In June 2020, former Prime Minister Tony Blair and others called for Covid digital ids for all. The article was accompanied by a picture of a chip on a wrist. See here. This reminded me of a prophecy written nearly 2000 years ago. "The beast forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or forehead, so that no-one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom... (Revelation 13:16-17)." To receive the mark was to worship the beast, and there would be dire consequences (14:9-12).

I wrote this play to alert people to this similarity. I hope you enjoy the story.
